How it tastes

In the glass

Lively and aromatic Bragat Rosa with red fruits, floral lift, and fine tannin texture.

Profile

Body LightFull
Acidity SoftBright
Grip SilkyGrippy
Wild side CleanFunky

Nose

Fresh strawberry, red currant, floral lift, gentle spice.

Palate

Delicate red fruits with bright, energetic acidity that lends vivid drive without harsh edges. Fine tannin texture offers shape and subtle grip, while a hint of earthy mineral tension threads through the mid-palate.

Finish

Persistent and expressive, reflecting the unique identity of this rare variety in Roero's sandy terrain.

“A nearly extinct Piedmontese variety revived through minimal intervention and sandy terroir.”

How to serve

Getting the best out of it

Temperature

Lightly chilled. Twenty minutes in the fridge keeps the fruit bright and the tannin soft.

Air

No need.

When to drink

Drink it young and slightly chilled, within three or four years: it's about crunchy fruit, not age.

Once open

Light reds lose their crunch first. Cork in and straight in the fridge, then drink it slightly chilled. 2–3 days.

How to pair it

This is a light red

Low tannin, lots of freshness: serve it slightly chilled and pair it almost like a white. No cheese, no fried food.

Match

Flavours that echo the wine.

  • Mushrooms and earthy vegetables
  • Poultry and white meat (roast chicken)
  • Pulses (lentils, beans)
  • Grilled meaty fish (tuna, salmon)

Contrast

Opposites that make each other better.

  • Cured meats (salame, prosciutto)
  • Fatty sausages

Careful with

Combinations that flatten the wine.

  • Raw fish
  • Very hot chilli
  • Heavy stews

Terroir & winemaking

Vines
100% Bragat Rosa, a rare and nearly extinct indigenous variety once native to the Roero hills.
Soils
Sandy, calcareous, and clay-marl on heat-moderated, well-drained hillsides, encouraging bright aromatics and refined structure.
Farming
Minimal intervention with hand-harvesting.
Cellar
Part whole-bunch carbonic, part destemmed, macerated on the skins in stainless steel and aged on fine lees.
Additions
Minimal intervention throughout.

CORNELIANO D'ALBA

Valdisole’s vineyards are planted mainly within the Roero DOCG and especially in the Valdistefano geographic zone — a terroir of sandy, clay and fossil-rich limestone soils that give the wines their distinctive tension, clarity, and freshness.

Valdisole

Artisan vignerons crafting curious, experimental wines from Roero’s sandy hills

Valdisole began in 2015 on the hills of Roero, in a little village called Corneliano d’Alba, born from the unexpected curiosity and passion of founders Giuseppe Amato and Kyriaki Kalimeri — neither of whom came from a winemaking family.

"Valdisole is born out of curiosity… the only ingredient of our wine is the grape.”

Good to know

Questions we get a lot

Is this a natural wine?

All our wines come from small growers who farm organically or biodynamically and keep intervention in the cellar to a minimum: native yeasts, little or no added sulphites. Every producer has their own approach; the details are in “From the vineyard to the bottle” above.

Why is it a bit cloudy, or is there sediment?

Many of our wines are bottled unfiltered. A light haze or some sediment is natural and harmless: stand the bottle upright for a few hours and pour gently.

How long does it keep once open?

It depends on the wine (see “Once open” above). As a rule: cork back in and keep it in the fridge, reds included.

When will my order arrive?

We ship Tuesday to Saturday, usually right away. In Germany delivery takes 2–3 working days; rates for every country are on our shipping page.

Can I pick up in Berlin?

Yes. Choose pickup at checkout and collect your order at our shop in Berlin.
