How it tastes

In the glass

A multi-vintage blend that captures Corsican red at its most charming and immediately drinkable.

Profile

Body LightFull
Acidity SoftBright
Grip SilkyGrippy
Wild side CleanFunky

Nose

Ripe red and black fruit, a peppery floral note, subtle herbal and earthy nuances. Fresh and vibrant — no heaviness.

Palate

Medium-bodied with a charming fruit expression and silky tannins. The Sciaccarellu adds a floral, spiced lift to the Niellucciu's structure. Lively and savoury throughout.

Finish

Dry and mineral, with fine tannin and a long spiced persistence.

“A multi-vintage Niellucciu and Sciaccarellu blend shaped by north-facing Patrimonio parcels.”

How to serve

Getting the best out of it

Temperature

Lightly chilled. Twenty minutes in the fridge keeps the fruit bright and the tannin soft.

Air

A little. Open it 15 minutes before; the tannin is soft, so it doesn't need more, but the layers get clearer and more distinct.

When to drink

Good now; at its best until around 2028. With time the tannin softens and the fruit turns earthier, but not overripe: you still want to feel the crispness of the fruit.

Once open

It holds well: the fruit fades a little, the savoury side grows. Cork in and keep it in the fridge, then take it out 30 minutes before pouring. 2–3 days.

How to pair it

This is an everyday red

Enough grip for meat, enough freshness for vegetables. Think shared plates and anything off the grill.

Match

Flavours that echo the wine.

  • Grilled meat and vegetables
  • Tomato-based pasta
  • Mushrooms
  • Roast pork

Contrast

Opposites that make each other better.

  • Fatty sausages
  • Lamb (chops, roast)
  • Cured meats

Careful with

Combinations that flatten the wine.

  • Raw or delicate fish
  • Very hot chilli
  • Artichokes and asparagus

Terroir & winemaking

From the vineyard to the bottle

Albore is Mariotti Bindi's entry estate red — a blend of Niellucciu and Sciaccarellu from Patrimonio's clay and limestone soils, combining two or more vintages for consistency and freshness.

Vines
Niellucciu (90%) and Sciaccarellu (10%) on clay and limestone slopes in Patrimonio, northern Corsica. North-facing parcels in Carcu, planted from 1970. Certified organic.
Soils
Clay and limestone — the classic Patrimonio terroir. North-facing exposure preserves freshness and aromatic precision.
Farming
Certified organic. Hand harvested in small baskets.
Cellar
Cold pre-fermentation maceration 2 days. Spontaneous fermentation. Gentle daily pump-overs. Transferred by gravity. Part whole-bunch vinification. Aged in tank, 6 months. Bottled without fining or filtration.
Additions
Minimal sulphur (printed on label). No fining, no filtration.

PATRIMONIO

Patrimonio is one of Corsica’s most naturally “serious” wine zones: it can deliver Mediterranean ripeness, but the best sites also give real tension. Oletta sits close enough to the sea to feel the air and light, yet with a landscape that can hold freshness — the key to making wines that feel dry and precise rather than warm and soft.

Nicolas Mariotti Bindi

Corsica with a limestone spine — Patrimonio whites and reds that stay precise, saline, and quietly intense.

Nicolas Mariotti Bindi didn’t start with an obvious “winemaker path.” He left Corsica to study law in Paris, then made a sharp U-turn back home, choosing vines over the expected career. That first pivot matters, because it explains the tone of the wines: purposeful, precise, and built more on conviction than tradition-for-tradition’s-sake.

“Je ne suis pas issu du milieu.”

Style
Mediterranean wines with restraint: bright, salty whites and reds that stay lifted, herbal, and structured without heaviness
Grapes
Vermentinu for whites; Niellucciu for reds, with small cuvées depending on parcels and vintage
Farming
Organic farming, careful handwork, and parcel focus — low yields and patience over speed
Winemaking
Natural fermentations, minimal sulphur with totals often written on the label; no fining or filtration; élevage split between concrete/cement and used barrels
Signature
Corsica without caricature — sunlight held in check by freshness, sap, and a dry mineral finish

Good to know

Questions we get a lot

Is this a natural wine?

All our wines come from small growers who farm organically or biodynamically and keep intervention in the cellar to a minimum: native yeasts, little or no added sulphites. Every producer has their own approach; the details are in “From the vineyard to the bottle” above.

Why is it a bit cloudy, or is there sediment?

Many of our wines are bottled unfiltered. A light haze or some sediment is natural and harmless: stand the bottle upright for a few hours and pour gently.

How long does it keep once open?

It depends on the wine (see “Once open” above). As a rule: cork back in and keep it in the fridge, reds included.

When will my order arrive?

We ship Tuesday to Saturday, usually right away. In Germany delivery takes 2–3 working days; rates for every country are on our shipping page.

Can I pick up in Berlin?

Yes. Choose pickup at checkout and collect your order at our shop in Berlin.
