How it tastes

In the glass

A precise and tension-filled Aligoté centred on clarity and drive.

Profile

Body LightFull
Acidity SoftBright
Grip SilkyGrippy
Wild side CleanFunky

Nose

Lemon zest, green apple, and white blossom, underscored by wet stone and a subtle herbal nuance.

Palate

Light- to medium-bodied with bright, incisive acidity. Citrus and orchard fruit remain taut and clean, supported by a chalky mineral backbone and restrained alcohol.

Finish

Sharp and persistent, with saline lift and citrus peel lingering.

“A classically framed Aligoté defined by purity and line.”

How to serve

Getting the best out of it

Temperature

Cool, not cold. Straight from the fridge the fruit holds back; ten minutes on the table and it speaks.

Air

None needed: fresh and aromatic, pour and drink.

When to drink

Drink it young, within two years of the vintage, while the fruit is bright. Its acidity lets it hold a few years more, turning more savoury and less fruity.

Once open

The fruit slowly fades, the acidity stays. Cork in, fridge. 2–3 days.

How to pair it

This is a fresh white

Match intensity: light food, light wine. Let the acidity do the job a squeeze of lemon would do.

Match

Flavours that echo the wine.

  • Green vegetables and herbs (peas, courgettes, pesto)
  • Grilled or steamed white fish
  • Shellfish
  • Fresh goat cheese

Contrast

Opposites that make each other better.

  • Fried fish and seafood (fritto misto, calamari)
  • Creamy fresh cheese (burrata, stracciatella)

Careful with

Combinations that flatten the wine.

  • Red meat
  • Smoky barbecue
  • Chilli-hot dishes

SAVIGNY LÈS BEAUNE

Savigny-lès-Beaune lies at the northern edge of the Côte de Beaune, where a small valley opens westward into limestone hills. The appellation contains a complex mosaic of Premier Cru climats spread across two main hillsides: one facing south/southeast, the other more east-facing.

Louis Chenu et Filles

Savigny-lès-Beaune wines anchored in limestone, finesse, and classical Burgundian balance.

Domaine Louis Chenu is a historic Savigny-lès-Beaune estate now led by sisters Juliette and Caroline Chenu, representing a new generation deeply committed to the family’s Burgundian heritage. Taking responsibility for the domaine meant both preserving tradition and refining it with greater precision.

"The vineyard speaks in limestone and clay — we simply learn to listen."

Questions we get a lot

Is this a natural wine?

All our wines come from small growers who farm organically or biodynamically and keep intervention in the cellar to a minimum: native yeasts, little or no added sulphites. Every producer has their own approach; the details are in “From the vineyard to the bottle” above.

Why is it a bit cloudy, or is there sediment?

Many of our wines are bottled unfiltered. A light haze or some sediment is natural and harmless: stand the bottle upright for a few hours and pour gently.

How long does it keep once open?

It depends on the wine (see “Once open” above). As a rule: cork back in and keep it in the fridge, reds included.

When will my order arrive?

We ship Tuesday to Saturday, usually right away. In Germany delivery takes 2–3 working days; rates for every country are on our shipping page.

Can I pick up in Berlin?

Yes. Choose pickup at checkout and collect your order at our shop in Berlin.
