Nebbiolo and Pinot Noir are two of the most beloved grape varieties among sommeliers and wine enthusiasts.
Nebbiolo is the star grape of the Piedmont region in Italy, best known for producing the highly prized Barolo and Barbaresco wines. Pinot Noir, on the other hand, is grown in many wine regions across the world, but probably the most expressive wines comes from Burgundy.
What makes these two grapes so special is their ability to express the terroir of the region where they are grown, resulting in wines that are complex and nuanced.
Nebbiolo and Pinot Noir are difficult to taste together in a blind tasting because they have distinct characteristics that can be difficult to identify side by side. While both wines are light in color and high in acidity, Nebbiolo is known for its high tannins and bold flavour profile, whereas Pinot Noir is lighter and more delicate. The tannins in Nebbiolo can be overpowering and make it challenging to taste the subtle flavours of Pinot Noir.
Overall, tasting these two complex wines together can be a challenge, but it is also an excellent opportunity to have fun with other wines fellow.
