Collection: Barbera

The Barbera grape variety is widely cultivated in various regions worldwide, including Italy, particularly in the Piedmont region.

Known for its versatility, Barbera grapes thrive in diverse climates and soil types. This grape variety is highly esteemed for its vibrant flavours, characterised by a medium to high acidity and a deep ruby red colour.

Barbera wines often exhibit notes of red and black fruits, such as cherry, plum, and blackberry, with hints of spice and earthiness. With its moderate tannins and medium to full body, Barbera wines offer a smooth and velvety mouthfeel.

Barbera has been taken more seriously in the last twenty or so years and is now made in a wide range of styles, from cheap, young, tart and fruity to far more expensive, dense oaked versions that benefit from ageing.
