Collection: Joško Gravner

Joško Gravner stands as a prominent figure in the natural wine movement, revered for his exceptional contributions. Nestled in eastern Friuli near the Slovenian border, his vineyard yields wines that epitomize true terroir expressions in their purest form. Gravner's orange wines, though divisive, exude unparalleled uniqueness. Embracing biodynamic practices, his commitment to natural winemaking remains unwaveringly steadfast.

Upon assuming stewardship of the 300-year-old family estate in the 1980s, Joško could hardly have foreseen the acclaim that would follow. Presently, Gravner and his dedicated team cultivate a total expanse of 32 hectares, with 15 hectares dedicated to vineyards boasting minimal yields. The remaining land encompasses lush forests, verdant meadows, and tranquil ponds.

At Gravner, a deep respect for nature underpins every endeavour. Gravner advocates for a harmonious coexistence with the land, understanding the importance of nurturing the environment. His strategic placement of ponds amidst the expansive vineyards is a testament to this. These ponds play a crucial role in restoring the natural equilibrium disrupted by intensive agriculture and monocultures, fostering the return of plants, insects, and wildlife to the vineyards. This thoughtful approach is essential for the thriving ecosystem that is vital for environmental well-being.
