Vino del Poggio is a small winery located in Val Trebbia, in Emilia Romagna, in the area of Colli Piacentini, run by Andrea Cervini. The area is located in the north west part of the region, bordering Lombardy, and it is geologically and climatically similar to the contiguous neighbour Oltrepo Pavese. The region has a strong tradition of natural winemaking, and is getting the attention from many in the last years, thanks to the work of winemakers who express the strong character of the land in their wines: La Stoppa, Vino del Poggio, Denavolo, Croci, just to name a few. The main varieties are Malvasia di Candia, Barbera, Croatina and Ortrugo. Vino del Poggio vineyards are around 200m above sea level. Andrea planted his first vineyard in 2006, and today he reached 4 hectares of land, planted with Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Sauvignon Blanc, Barbera and Croatina grapes. The soils are mainly clay and limestone. Andrea doesn’t use any pesticides, chemicals, nor oenological products and he doesn't add sulphites. He works in respect of the nature with minimum intervention. He produces natural wines with great character and energy. The wines get the time they need to evolve, get stable, and develop their special identity. Andrea’s Wines are wild, like him, and completely reflect his idea of life and viticulture.
