HOW THEY GOT HERE

Domaine Bonnet-Huteau has been a family estate in the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine vineyard for over 150 years, rooted in the historic site of a mediaeval residence at La Chapelle-Heulin.

Today the estate is run by Jean-Jacques Bonnet and Vincent Pineau, who work with deep respect for nature and soil health. They converted to organic farming in 2005 and later adopted biodynamic practices certified by Biodyvin to bring out the distinct minerality and character of each terroir (such as gneiss, micaschist, amphibolite, and granite).

Their goal has been constant: grow grapes and make wines that genuinely reflect the living soils of the Pays Nantais, preserving freshness and depth in every bottle.

Where The Wine Is Born

The wines of Domaine Bonnet-Huteau are born in the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation — the most prestigious subregion of Muscadet — nestled in the Loire Valley near Nantes.

Here, the vineyards grow on diverse soils (gneiss, micaschist, amphibolite, granite) that lend distinct mineral notes and textural complexity to the wines.

The cool maritime influence from nearby Atlantic winds combined with meticulous, biodynamic viticulture produces wines that are both energetic and refined, capturing this terroir’s unique signature.

FOR THE NERDS

Domaine Bonnet-Huteau works about 40 hectares of vines in the Pays Nantais, right in the core of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine — a region with a long history of wine production.

The Bonnet family has been at this land for generations, and today Jean-Jacques Bonnet and Vincent Pineau farm the estate organically (since 2005) and biodynamically (certified since 2010) to nurture living soil and natural vine resistance.

The vineyards sit on distinct terroirs — each rock type (gneiss, micaschist, amphibolite, granite) influences the character of the grapes. Low yields and hand harvesting ensure quality and depth.
In the cellar, fermentation often occurs with indigenous yeasts, and the wines are aged on their lees for 6–24 months in traditional underground vats lined with glass, enriching texture and complexity.

Selected cuvées are also vinified in terracotta amphorae, enhancing purity and terroir expression.
The result is a range of vibrant, expressive Muscadet and Loire wines that combine freshness, minerality, and personality — inviting both immediate enjoyment and thoughtful pairing with food.

“Respecting people, the environment, and nature is essential in our everyday work.”
